Are my shoes already worn out, or can I still walk in them? A question we hear every day in our store.
The lifespan of running shoes depends on a number of factors. Where we used to run around 1000 km, we are now at around 600-800 km due to the use of less and less material to save weight. It is important that the shoes are bought with good advice.
- What kind of running style do you have?
- How fast do you run?
- What surface do you run on?
- Approximate body weight
For 2 training sessions and more, we recommend at least 2 shoes. This is so that your feet and joints are subjected to different loads.
Even if you record your shoe kilometers via an app, it is good to take a closer look at your shoe from time to time. This is how you do it:
Shoe axis
Is the shoe still at a right angle when viewed from behind, or is it already showing outward or inward deformations?

Tired midsole material
If the midsole has many small cracks or damage, you will no longer feel the same reactivity (cushioning). This can suddenly feel hard, which can lead to reactions of the foot, heel, Achilles tendon or shins. Or you may suddenly develop blisters.

Abrasion on the heel and ball of the foot
If you run over your heel, the rubber on the outside is usually worn away. As soon as the rubber is gone, the heel rotates outwards more on impact. The same happens in the forefoot.
